Small Bet or Big Bet? How MamaCipSlots Chooses Before Spinning

Written by MamaCipSlots

Bet size can completely change the whole slot experience.

For me, choosing what to bet is not some perfect formula. My husband and I play slots together, and it is something fun we enjoy doing as a couple.

A lot of the time, both of our inputs, gut feelings, and intuition determine how and why we bet what we do.

Some days we are playing it safer. Some days we are feeling risky. And some days the slot session itself decides for us.

Our Go-to Bet Size

Our average bet size is usually around $10 to $25 a spin. That is where we feel comfortable most of the time.

But we definitely go higher or lower depending on how much we are starting with, what kind of mood we are in, and where we are in the day.

If it is the beginning of a slot session, we may play a little more controlled because we want the day to last. Toward the end of the day, if we are either really up or really down, that is when things can change.

Sometimes we lower the bet and try to stretch the session. Other times, if the first half of the day was a total flop, we may decide to get a little crazier and take a bigger swing.

That does not mean it always works. It just means sometimes the session calls for a different kind of risk.

How We Play New Slots

When we are trying a new slot, we typically put about $200 into the machine and bet around $10 to $15 a spin. That gives us enough room to feel the game out a little.

Every slot plays differently. Some games have terrible line hits but amazing bonus rounds. Other games give decent line hits but the bonus can be hit or miss.

So when we sit at something unfamiliar, we like to see if there is a little back and forth, how the line hits are adding up, and whether we can land a bonus to see what the game is really about.

If we double our money or get close to doubling, a lot of times we just print the ticket and move on.

Everyone wants that huge win, but handpays do not happen every session. Casinos are not built on winners, so sometimes taking the small win is the smartest move.

When Bigger Bets Make Sense

There are times we go bigger. We have put $400 into a machine and done four $100 spins, or eight $50 spins. That is obviously way riskier, but bigger bets can also create the chance for much bigger wins.

Sometimes if we are halfway through the day and the safe $10 or $12.50 spins have done absolutely nothing, we will take a shot at something bigger. Not because it is guaranteed, but because one good hit on a larger bet can completely change the session.

One time, we brought $4,000 to the casino and ended up down to about our last $300. Then we hit for around $4,700. At that point, we gladly pushed in our chairs and left. That is a big part of it too: knowing when to be done.

How We Deal with Slot Challenges

We have also had a ton of fun doing challenges where we put $100 into a slot and do four spins at $25 a spin, then move on and play the entire bank of machines that way.

The first time we tried that, it was wild. It made the whole session feel fast, exciting, and totally different from how we normally play.

It is definitely not something I would recommend as an everyday strategy, but for a fun video or a challenge, it can make for a really entertaining session.

You can watch that session here:

Casino Bets vs. Online Bets

In a casino, the biggest bet I remember placing was $200 a spin. The biggest bonus buy we have done in a casino was $1,000.

Online, we usually stay around $5 to $15 a spin, but when it comes to buying bonuses, we have definitely gone a little crazy.

Our biggest hit from buying a bonus was on Chicken Dash, where we won $75,000. Honestly, we have won more playing online than we have in an actual casino.

But the casino is different for us. It is a date. It is a night out. It is something we do together for fun, and we understand the risk that comes with it.

My Biggest Advice on Slots Bet Size

Bring a set amount of cash and stick to it. If you print out small win tickets, do not keep feeding them back into machines. Put them away.

For us, when the cash in our pocket is gone, we cash in the tickets and go home. That way, we had our fun, played the session, and we are not leaving completely broke.

At the end of the day, there is no perfect bet size. A smaller bet can give you more time and sometimes surprise you. A bigger bet can make the session more exciting and possibly create a bigger win, but it can also disappear fast.

Choose the bet that feels right for your budget, your mood, and the session you are trying to have. And most importantly, know when to print the ticket and walk away.
