My Husband vs. Me: Who Has Better Taste in Slots?

By MamaCipSlots

My husband Joe and I have what we call our Hubby vs. Wife days, where we turn the casino into our own little competition.

And I’m just going to say it…

Every time I challenge this man, he somehow wins. 😂

It doesn’t matter how confident I am going into it. I can have my strategy, my favorite machines picked out, and be completely convinced that THIS is finally going to be the day I beat him.

Then Joe wanders over to some random slot, sits down, and somehow makes it rain.

It’s actually annoying how lucky he is.

But after doing this enough times, I’ve realized it might not be only luck. He’s also really good at picking games.

Joe’s Superpower: Picking the Right Machine

This is probably the biggest difference between us.

I have games I genuinely love. If you’ve watched me for a while, you know I’m a sucker for games like Huff N’ Puff, Huff N’ More Puff and Dragon Link. I love features, bonuses and that feeling of building toward something bigger.

Joe is much more likely to walk around, look at the floor and randomly decide, “That one.”

And WAY too often…he’s right.

During our Hubby vs. Wife challenges, I’ll be bouncing around trying to find the machine that finally puts me ahead, while Joe finds one slot that starts paying and suddenly I’m playing catch-up for the rest of the challenge.

There have definitely been times where I’ve looked at his machine thinking, Of all the games in this casino, THAT’S the one you picked?

Then five minutes later I’m watching him cash out.

So when it comes to simply choosing a machine that wants to play?

I have to give him credit.

But There’s Another Side to Joe’s “Feeling”

Here’s where things get funny.

Joe is extremely lucky, but he also gets these moments where he becomes absolutely convinced a machine is about to do something.

You know that feeling slot players get?

“This thing is going to give.”

Joe gets THAT feeling.

And once he does…good luck getting him away from the machine.

He’ll keep feeding it because he’s convinced the bonus is coming, the feature is about to pop, or the machine is somehow telling him, “Just a little more.”

Sometimes he’s right—and when he’s right, he wins BIG.

Other times?

There is absolutely no payday waiting at the end of that story. 😂

That’s Joe in a nutshell when it comes to slots: he’s either having one of those ridiculous sessions where everything seems to go his way, or he has dug himself into a machine because he was positive it was going to hit.

There isn’t always much middle ground.

Big winning or big losing.

Me? Give Me a Slot I Actually Enjoy Playing

This is where my taste is a little different.

Of course I want to win—we ALL want to win—but I also need to enjoy the game.

That’s why the Huff N’ Puff family has always been so much fun for me. Give me houses to build, upgrades to chase and a bonus where I’m yelling at the screen for ONE MORE brick house, and I’m entertained.

I love watching a feature progress.

The same thing draws me to games like Dragon Link. When those orbs start landing and you know there’s real potential sitting in front of you, it’s hard not to get invested.

Joe might be looking at whether the machine is actually paying.

Meanwhile I’ve already developed an emotional relationship with the bonus feature. 😂

So…Who Has Better Taste?

I would LOVE to sit here and tell you it’s me.

Unfortunately, our Hubby vs. Wife record makes that argument a little difficult.

Joe somehow keeps winning these challenges, he has an irritating talent for picking machines that pay, and he is definitely one of the luckiest people I’ve gambled with.

But that same confidence can also be his downfall. When Joe decides a slot is “going to give,” that machine might be getting a LOT more money before he admits defeat.

So maybe that’s really the difference between us:

I fall in love with the game. Joe falls in love with the possibility.

Sometimes that makes him look like a genius.

Sometimes it makes me stand behind him saying, “BABE. LEAVE THE MACHINE.” 😂

Either way, it definitely makes our Hubby vs. Wife days entertaining.

Now it’s your turn to choose a side:

Are you Team MamaCip or Team Hubby—and which one of us sounds more like YOU at the casino?
