Casino VIP Perks: Which Ones Do I Actually Use?

By MamaCipSlots

Casino VIP programs can sound incredibly glamorous.

Free hotel rooms. Dining credits. Spa access. Free play. Special amenities. Sometimes even things like car washes.

But after spending a lot of time playing both at land-based casinos and online, I’ve learned that some perks matter WAY more to me than others.

And for me, there are two that really stand above everything else:

Free play and hotel rooms.

Free Play Is Number One

When you’re gambling with a players card at a land-based casino, your play is being tracked. The same general idea applies online, where your activity can also contribute toward rewards, promotions or VIP benefits.

Over time, that play can turn into different offers depending on the casino.

For me, free play is by far the biggest deciding factor when I’m looking at casino rewards.

Why?

Because I’m there to play.

If a casino is going to give me something back based on the amount of play I’ve put in, I’d much rather have something I can actually use on the casino floor.

We’ve definitely taken advantage of free play offers over the years, and when you’re someone who plays often, those offers can make a noticeable difference.

That is also why I almost always use my players card when I’m gambling.

Now, do gamblers sometimes joke that putting your card in somehow changes your luck?

Absolutely. 😂

There have definitely been moments where I’ve thought, Maybe I should take this thing out.

But logically, I still want my play tracked because I don’t want to miss out on the rewards that can come from it.

Free Rooms Are a Very Close Second

Hotel room comps are probably the next benefit we use the most.

If we’re heading to a land-based casino for an overnight trip, being able to stay on property without paying the normal room rate is a huge perk.

It makes the entire trip easier.

You can play, go upstairs when you’re finished, get some sleep and head right back down the next day without worrying about driving somewhere else.

We’ve taken advantage of plenty of complimentary rooms, and that’s one perk I genuinely appreciate.

Depending on the property and your level of play, those room offers can also save a lot of money over time.

For us, that’s far more useful than getting access to something that sounds luxurious but we probably won’t have time to use.

Food Comps? Definitely Useful

Food comps are another benefit we’ve used.

They’re not necessarily the reason I’d choose one casino over another, but they’re always nice to have.

Casino trips can mean long days, and being able to grab dinner or use comp dollars toward meals is convenient.

It’s one of those rewards that may not sound as exciting as a giant suite or flashy VIP experience, but it’s practical.

And practical usually wins for me.

The Perks We Barely Use

Then there are the amenities.

Some casinos offer access to gyms, spas, massages, beauty treatments and other wellness perks.

They sound great.

Do we use them?

Almost never. 😂

When we go to a casino for an overnight trip, we’re usually there to gamble, film content, eat and sleep.

I’m not normally waking up thinking, I can’t wait to hit the hotel gym.

The same goes for massages or spa amenities. They might be amazing, but they just haven’t been a major part of our casino trips.

I’ve even seen properties offer perks like car washes, which I actually think is really cool.

We haven’t taken advantage of one yet, but that’s the kind of random bonus that makes you realize just how creative some casino loyalty programs have become.

What Matters Most to Me

If I had to rank casino perks based purely on what I actually use, it would be pretty simple:

Free play first. Hotel rooms second. Food comps after that.

Everything else is a bonus.

That’s really how I look at VIP programs in general. The fanciest perk isn’t necessarily the best perk.

The best perk is the one you’re actually going to use.

For me, I’d take extra free play over a spa treatment almost every time.

And that’s exactly why, whether I’m playing at a land-based casino or participating in an online rewards program, I like making sure my play is being tracked.

Even on the days when I’m joking that my players card is ruining my luck. 😂
